The Bitterroot National Forest dominates the eastern landscape of this quadrangle, where the terrain rises sharply toward the Bitterroot-Rock Creek Divide. This high country is drained by numerous watercourses, including the Middle Fork Three Mile Cr and Left Fork Three Mile Cr, which feed into the larger Threemile Cr system as it moves toward the valley floor. In the lower elevations to the west, a grid of rural roads and ranch properties, such as Bolin Ranch Rd, suggests a long-standing agricultural tradition.
