Hardinsburg and the surrounding karst topography of south-central Indiana are showcased in this 2016 survey, where the landscape is defined by subterranean drainage systems and sharp relief. The presence of numerous named sinks, such as Scotland Cave Sink, Posey Sink, and Honey Sink, indicates a complex geological environment where surface water often disappears into limestone conduits. This natural drainage pattern is further evidenced by Sinking Cr, which meanders near Ragroad Hill before reaching the settlement. To the west, the Hoosier National Forest covers significant terrain, preserving the woodland character of the region.
