Haskins Valley and the northern shores of Bucks Lake define the high country of the Plumas National Forest in this 2015 study. The landscape is a complex of meadows and ridges, transitioning from Darby Meadow and Frenchman Hill in the northwest down to the deep incision of the Middle Fork Feather River in the south. This river corridor is marked by significant topographical landmarks including Hartman Bar and the Hartman Bar Ridge, reflecting the difficult terrain of the Feather River canyon.
