Rawlinsons Channel and a series of shifting sand features define this coastal environment in Dare County, recorded during a 2019 survey. This maritime landscape is characterized by its underwater topography and small landforms, including Shark Shoal and Egg Shoal in the southwestern reaches of the area. Further north and east, the map identifies Log Shoal and Clam Shoal, which along with Birds Island, indicate the shallow, intricate nature of these waters. The presence of these named shoals and channels illustrates the complex navigational environment and the dynamic coastal processes at work in the Outer Banks region.
