The Thibadeau Lake National Wildlife Refuge dominates the northern portion of this Montana landscape, where the seasonal waters of Thibadeau Lake, Grassy Lake, and Dry Lake define the terrain. Situated along the boundary between Hill Co and Blaine Co, this area is characterized by a complex drainage system of deep-cut coulees, including Redrock Coulee and McLaren Coulee, which weave through the high plains.
