Darrington sits at the northern edge of this high-elevation landscape, where the Sauk River and its protected corridor, the Skagit Wild and Scenic River, create a deep valley floor beneath the surrounding peaks. This 2023 survey illustrates a region defined by strict conservation boundaries, with much of the southern terrain contained within the Boulder River Wilderness and the Mount Baker National Forest. High peaks such as Jumbo Mtn and Gold Mtn dominate the horizon, while the long spine of Helena Ridge divides the drainages of Helena Creek and Goodman Creek.
