The Cady Mountains dominate the central portion of this arid landscape within the Mojave Desert. The topography is defined by the ephemeral drainage of Wilhelm Wash, which winds through the mountain passes, and the course of the Mojave River clipping the northwestern corner of the area. This 2015 survey illustrates a largely uninhabited section of San Bernardino County, where water sources like the Ninemile Waterhole were historically critical for travel across the desert floor. The map captures the isolation of Hidden Valley in the eastern reaches, providing a clear view of the natural relief and traditional township and range survey lines that segment this rugged environment.
