About this map

Pearl River and the complex wetlands of the Louisiana-Mississippi border define this 1939 field examination. The landscape is a dense network of waterways, where the Old West River and Old East Pearl River diverge amidst a labyrinth of bayous named for local families and wildlife, such as Seaburn House Bayou and Gobbler Bayou. The Southern railroad cuts a straight line through the swamp, serving stops at Benton and Murree Siding before crossing toward Nicholson.
