Lake Mead dominates this arid landscape at the border of Nevada and Arizona, where the reservoir fills the ancient path of Iceberg Canyon. The water reaches into numerous inlets and bays, including Grand Wash Bay and the narrow fingers of Devils Cove and Sunfish Cove. The surrounding topography is defined by sharp elevation changes and named high points such as Thumb Knob, Lava Point, and the Million Hills to the north.
