Lake Mead National Recreation Area occupies the central corridor of this survey, where the waters of Lake Mead fill the narrow passage of Iceberg Canyon. The landscape is a complex network of bays and points at the intersection of the Mojave Desert and the Colorado River drainage system. On the eastern shore, the transition into Arizona is marked by significant inlets such as Grand Wash Bay and Pigeon Cove, while the western Nevada side is defined by the high elevations of the Indian Hills and the jagged Million Hills.
