The Rio Grande winds through this high-altitude landscape on the border of Saguache and Rio Grande counties, carving a valley flanked by the wooded slopes of the Rio Grande National Forest. The settlement of Hanna sits near the center of the sheet, positioned along the highway and irrigation infrastructure of the Minor Ditch. This area represents a complex network of high mountain drainage, where streams like Old Woman Cr and Schrader Cr descend toward the river valley.
