Indian Pond and the upper reaches of the Kennebec River anchor this 2014 survey of the Somerset and Piscataquis county borderlands. The landscape is defined by its complex hydrography, where the main pond is fed by Coburn Brook and Brandy Brook, while Indian Stream and Little Indian Stream drain the eastern uplands. This area of Somerset County is characterized by significant topographic relief, most notably at Little Indian Hill and Burnt Nubble, which overlook a network of smaller water bodies such as Frypan Pond and Round Pond.
