The Imnaha River carves a deep central artery through this high-elevation landscape in Wallowa County. Most of the terrain is protected within the Wallowa National Forest, with the southeastern portion transitions into the Hells Canyon Wilderness. A series of prominent North-South landmarks like Jaynes Ridge and Morgan Ridge define the drainage patterns, feeding numerous small tributaries such as Shin Creek and Neil Creek into the main river channel.
