About this map

The Richinbar Mine anchors the steep eastern edge of Black Mesa, overlooking a dramatic landscape of canyons and plateaus where the Agua Fria River cuts through the terrain. In the early 2000s, this area of Yavapai County remained largely defined by its topography and the cattle-grazing infrastructure that supports it, including the New Windmill and several remote corrals. The rugged transition between the high mesas and the western boundary of the Tonto National Forest is marked by deep incisions like Alkali Canyon and Lousy Canyon.
