The Columbia River forms the northwestern boundary of this landscape, where the high desert terrain is defined by deep drainage systems. The primary topographical feature, Juniper Canyon, winds through the center of the sheet, supported by its secondary branches, the North Fork Juniper Canyon and South Fork Juniper Canyon. To the south, McCall Canyon provides additional relief in an area largely characterized by its network of rural access roads.
