The rolling plains of North Central Kansas intersect at the boundaries of Osborne, Phillips, Rooks, and Smith Counties on this 2015 survey. This area is defined by the headwaters of Medicine Cr and Crooked Cr, which carve subtle drainage patterns through a landscape structured by a precise square-mile grid of rural roads. The distribution of family and community heritage is visible through several distinct burial grounds, including the centrally located Ash Rock Cem and the Bohemian Cem in the north. These sites, along with Spring Branch Cem and Pleasant Ridge Cem, suggest the legacy of early homesteaders and immigrant farming communities that settled the region. The road network, including A RD and E Big Bear Rd, follows the section lines of the Public Land Survey System, maintaining the rural character of the Kansas prairie.
