Lake George dominates this landscape, its waters divided by numerous named islands and peninsulas that define the local topography. Along the western shore, the village of Lake George serves as a hub, nestled between the heights of Prospect Mtn and Rattlesnake Cobble. The area's heritage is preserved in several burial grounds including Caldwell Cem, Evergreen Cem, and the more remote Scotch Cem to the south.
