Wyntoon and Rinckel anchor this mountainous section of the Shasta National Forest at the boundary of Siskiyou and Shasta counties. The landscape is defined by the sharp descent of the McCloud River, which feeds into the prominent Lake McCloud in the southern half of the sheet. Notable river features include the sequence of Upper Falls, Middle Falls, and Lower Falls near the northeast corner, illustrating the dramatic change in elevation across this terrain.
