Kearny County terrain south of the Arkansas River valley is defined by the undulating patterns of the sand hills, captured here in 2022. The landscape is largely defined by its lack of dense settlement, dominated instead by the Public Land Survey System grid including townships t25s r37w, t25s r36w, t26s r37w, and t26s r36w. Local infrastructure is sparse, consisting primarily of section-line roads such as Co Rd 34 and Co Rd 35 that provide access to the interior of these western Kansas plains. In the eastern portion of the quadrangle, Lakin Ln and Co Rd L serve as primary north-south connectors through the rural landscape. This survey provides a precise modern record of the local topography and the persistent rural road network used by generations of Kearny County residents.
