Gallatin National Forest encompasses the high country of this Montana landscape, where the peaks and drainage basins of the Madison Range define the terrain. The central high point of Lincoln Mtn overlooks a network of seasonal and perennial streams, including Wapiti Cr, Cinnamon Cr, and Taylor Cr. At lower elevations, the Nine Quarter Circle Ranch Airport provides a rare point of modern access amidst the wilderness. Higher in the mountains, alpine water bodies like Albino Lake, Marble Lake, and the Lizard Lakes are preserved in their natural state. This 2017 survey details the hydrography and elevation contours of the region, tracing the Taylor Fork Rd corridor as it winds through the timber and meadows of the Middle Basin near the Madison and Gallatin County boundary line.
