Coleman Ranch serves as a primary human landmark in this high-altitude landscape of northern Washoe County. The terrain is defined by the drainage systems of Coleman Creek and Horse Creek, which flow through the prominent geologic features of Coleman Canyon and Little Coleman Canyon. At the heart of the area, Mosquito Mountain rises above the network of primitive routes such as Separate Rd and Colman Ranch Rd.
