The Little Colorado River winds through the southwestern corner of this high-desert landscape on the border of Navajo and Apache counties. This 2023 survey documents a complex network of seasonal drainages and water management features essential for ranching and land use in this arid region. The terrain is defined by the broad Milky Wash and its tributary, Little Milky Wash, which converge as they head toward the main river channel. Notable landforms such as Potter Mesa rise above numerous named draws, including Goat Ranch Draw and Sandoval Draw. Localized water sources, identified as tanks like Purple Hill Tank, Middle Tank, and Knoll Tank, are scattered throughout the quadrangle, connected by a dense system of numbered backcountry roads that reflect modern access patterns across the Navajo and Apache county line.
