The complex shoreline of the Great Peninsula and Harstine Island dominates this 2017 survey, where the waters of Puget Sound branch into a network of inlets and bays. Settlement is concentrated in the community of Longbranch and at Ballow on the eastern shore of Harstine Island. The geography is defined by deep maritime reaches including Case Inlet, Henderson Inlet, and the Dana Passage, which separate the islands and peninsulas of the southern Sound.
