1995 Map of Madison Butte

USGS Topo · Published 1998

About this map

Madison Butte and Tupper Butte rise as prominent landmarks in this rugged section of the Umatilla National Forest, which was extensively re-evaluated by the Forest Service in the mid-1990s. The landscape is defined by its water sources, with numerous named springs such as H K Spring, Nine Top Spring, and Brum Spring feeding into the Skookum Creek drainage system. A historical Morphine Ranch (Site) suggests earlier settlement patterns and land use within these high ridges and deep canyons.
