About this map

Cape Flattery marks the northwesternmost point of the contiguous United States, where the waters of the Pacific Ocean meet the entrance to the Strait of Juan de Fuca. This modern survey illustrates the contemporary landscape of the Makah Reservation, showing the concentration of the community at Neah Bay and along the coastal stretches of Hobuck Beach and Tsoo-Yess Beach. The interior is defined by the winding course of the Waatch River and the Tsoo-Yess River, which flow through forested hills toward the coast. Significant protected lands are detailed, including the Washington Islands Wilderness and portions of Olympic National Park near Shi-Shi Beach. Cultural and economic infrastructure is represented by the Makah National Fish Hatchery and a network of forestry roads such as Bahokas Peak Rd and Hatchery Rd that provide access through the Olympic Mountains.
