Mancos sits at the northern edge of this high-desert landscape, where the Mancos River and Chicken Cr converge before winding south through the Mancos Valley. The terrain shifts dramatically from the agricultural lands surrounding the town to the rising elevations of Menefee Mtn and Weber Mtn. To the southwest, the boundary of Mesa Verde National Park is visible, encompassing the East Rim and the upper reaches of Mancos Canyon. This survey captures the complex topography of the Four Corners region, including numerous named drainages like Weber Canyon and Joes Canyon. Local history is preserved in the locations of Cedar Grove Cem and Webber Cem, while the extensive network of rural routes, such as Co RD 41 and Co RD H.3, illustrates the modern connectivity of this mountain-rimmed basin.
