The area is characterized by steep canyons and prominent summits, including Cathedral Peak and Mt Ararat, which overlook a network of seasonal watercourses like San Luis Cr and Portuguese Cr. In the southern portion of the quadrangle, the terrain opens into the Quien Sabe Valley, a distinct geographical basin flanked by Saint Marys Peak and Laveaga Peak.
