Marshall Butte and the surrounding high-altitude drainage systems of Apache County are documented in this 2014 survey. The landscape is defined by an intricate network of waterways, most notably the E Fork White River which flows across the northern sections, and the prominent Big Bonito Cr to the south. Local topography is further marked by Elk Canyon in the west and Long Canyon in the southeast, while Lofer Bench provides a distinct geographical shelf above the riparian corridors. Remote access through this region is facilitated by the winding CR-72, connecting the high country between Lofer Cienega Cr and Crooked Cr. This map reveals a largely undeveloped wilderness characterized by steep elevation changes and the convergence of numerous alpine creeks like Little Bonito Cr and Squaw Cr.
