Maxwelton and the southern reaches of Whidbey Island are defined by a complex shoreline where the land meets the waters of Useless Bay and Cultus Bay. This 2011 survey documents a landscape of coastal settlements and family-named roads, from the residential clusters at Sunlight Beach to the community at Possession. The interior is marked by small water bodies like Deer Lake and Miller Lake, while the southern tip terminates at the distinctive geographic markers of Scatchet Head and Possession Point.
