Whidbey Island terrain is defined by its sweeping shorelines and coastal inlets, ranging from the broad reaches of Useless Bay to the protected waters of Cultus Bay. The southern tip of the island is anchored by Scatchet Head and Possession Point, with the small community of Possession overlooking the sound. Inland, the landscape is dotted with bodies of water like Deer Lagoon, Miller Lake, and Deer Lake, illustrating the post-glacial topography of the region.
