Mesa Gigante dominates the landscape of this New Mexico quadrangle, where the high desert plateau is deeply carved by an intricate network of drainage channels. The terrain is characterized by prominent geological landmarks such as Chimney Rock and the central Bell Rock, which stands near the head of Bell Rock Arroyo. This environment necessitated the development of seasonal water management and travel routes along the base of the cliffs, evidenced by the presence of Alamos Spring and the tracking of Mesa Rd across the high ground.
