1936 Map of Milky Way

USGS Topo · Published 1936

About this map

The Milky Way Farm dominates the central landscape of this 1930s survey, a period when the massive estate and its nearby Mars Mausoleum were prominent landmarks in Giles County. The area is defined by the winding course of Richland Creek and its many tributaries, such as Big Creek and Dry Creek. Settlement patterns are closely tied to the Louisville and Nashville Railroad, which services the small communities of Bufords and Riversburg, the latter featuring the Riversburg Station.
