About this map

Alexander Fish Ranch and the small siding of Millux define the agricultural and hydraulic landscape of the southern San Joaquin Valley in 1930. This survey illustrates a complex water management system engineered to reclaim land from the Buena Vista Lake Bed, featuring the Alejandro East Levee and a network of irrigation channels including the Stine Canal, Buena Vista Canal, and Maple Canal. The transformation of the natural hydrology is further evidenced by the Old Rim Ditch and New Rim Ditch, which redirect water around the ancient lake basin.
