The Cleveland National Forest defines this high-elevation landscape in San Diego County, where the transition from alpine meadows to desert escarpments is sharply illustrated. In the southern portion of the map, the seasonal waters of Big Laguna Lake and Little Laguna Lake anchor a cluster of recreational and ecological features including Laguna Meadow and El Prado Meadow. These high plateaus drop precipitously into the desert floor via Storm Canyon and Cottonwood Canyon.
