The high alpine country of the White River National Forest is defined here by the towering summit of Mt Powell, which anchors the southwestern corner of the quadrangle. As of 2019, this landscape remains a complex network of glacial lakes and rugged drainages, including Cataract Lake, Mirror Lake, and the Eaglesmere Lakes. The settlement of Heeney sits at the northern edge near the banks of Green Mountain Reservoir, serving as a gateway to the wilderness.
