Mt Townsend and the surrounding high peaks of the Olympic Mountains dominate this 2014 survey of the border between Clallam and Jefferson counties. The landscape is defined by the steep drainages of the Big Quilcene River and Tunnel Cr, where narrow valleys host remote waypoints like Tenmile Shelter and Camp Mystery. The presence of Copper City in Tull Canyon points to the region's historical mining interests, while the rugged terrain is dotted with high-elevation water bodies including Silver Lake and Buckhorn Lake. Much of the area is managed as part of the Olympic National Forest and Olympic National Park, showing a complex network of forest roads such as Natl Forest Develop Road 2721 Rd providing access to these protected lands.
