North English and Parnell anchor this landscape along the border of Iowa and Keokuk counties, where a dense network of watercourses defines the terrain. The North English River and Middle English River flow eastward, joined by smaller tributaries such as Deer Creek, Gritter Cr, and Little Cr. This configuration of waterways created a natural layout for early settlement, with many of the area’s smaller burial grounds located on the higher ground between these creek beds.
