North Pass and Cochetopa Pass define the high-altitude divide between the Gunnison National Forest and the Rio Grande National Forest in this 2013 survey. The landscape is a network of deep drainage basins and canyons, including Taylor Canyon and Rabbit Canyon, which channel a multitude of creeks such as Lujan Cr, E Pass Cr, and Luders Cr. These waterways historically guided the passage of travelers across the Continental Divide, a role now preserved by the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail NST winding through the center of the sheet.
