Sevenmile Cr cuts through the bluffs of the southeastern corner of this quadrangle, shortly before joining the Minnesota River at the border of Nicollet Co and Le Sueur Co. The landscape is defined by its agricultural drainage systems and reclaimed wetlands, notably including large tracts such as Goose Lakebed, Fox Lakebed, and Timber Lakebed. These former water bodies are now crisscrossed by an extensive network of artificial channels like County Ditch Number Six and County Ditch Number Seventy-eight.

Small clusters of settlement at Oshawa, North Star, and Traverse anchor the local road network, while sites like the Cullen Trading Post Cem and Saint Michael Cem provide valuable markers for genealogical research.
