The twin village centers of Norway and South Paris are tightly clustered near the falls of the Little Androscoggin River, where the Canadian National railroad tracks cut through the river valley. This geography highlights the late 20th-century transition of the area from a water-powered industrial hub to a residential and recreational corridor.

To the south, the terrain becomes increasingly rural, marked by a series of family-named heights such as Hathaway Hill and Andrews Hill. Smaller communities like Otisfield Gore and Stuarts Corner are visible among the drainage of Sargent Brook and the Crooked River. Local history is preserved in numerous small burial grounds, including Pine Grove Cem and the remote Caswell Corner Cem, which anchor the early agricultural boundaries of Oxford and Cumberland counties.
