The O. H. Ivie Reservoir dominates this Concho County landscape, its sprawling, irregular shoreline defining the geography of the central Texas plains. Formed by the S. W. Freese Dam on the southern edge of the sheet, the reservoir submerged much of the low-lying basin where several watercourses once converged. North of the main body of water, drainages like Grape Creek, Spring Branch, and Wheeler Branch continue to carve the terrain, leading toward prominent elevations such as Brushy Bluff.
