The Schell Creek Range dominates the eastern portion of this high-desert landscape, where numerous seasonal springs and drainages define the hydrology of the Great Basin. This 2021 survey traces the northern and southern forks of the Sheep Cr system and the expansive Cave Valley Wash which cuts through the central valley. The topography is marked by a series of prominent canyons, including Milk Ranch Canyon, Willow Spring Canyon, and Blue Rock Canyon, each serving as natural conduits for water from the higher elevations.
