Lake Mead National Recreation Area occupies the northern half of this terrain, where the high plateaus are cut by deep geological systems including Peach Springs Canyon and Diamond Canyon. The landscape is defined by its verticality, rising from the wash of Diamond Cr toward the landmark known as Thumb. This 2014 survey documents a sparsely populated corner of the Southwest along the Mohave and Coconino county line. The presence of Diamond Spring and the Metuck Tank highlight the critical role of isolated water sources in this arid environment, while the intricate contour lines illustrate the complex drainage patterns feeding into Blue Mountain Canyon.
