Wrangell Narrows divides the settlements of Petersburg and Kupreanof in this early 1990s topographic record. The waterfront of Petersburg is highly developed for maritime activity, featuring a Seaplane Base, Ferry Dock, and the distinctive Hammer Slough winding through the town center. Across the narrows, the Lindenberg Peninsula rises toward Petersburg Mountain, while to the east, the Mitkof Highway traces the coastline of Mitkof Island past Scow Bay. This survey captures the critical transportation infrastructure of the Alexander Archipelago, showing the Alaska Marine Highway route through the narrow passage and the local Airport at the foot of the mountains. Much of the surrounding terrain is preserved as part of the Tongass National Forest, including the protected Petersburg Creek-Duncan Salt Chuck Wilderness to the northwest.
