Trego serves as a primary access point for this portion of the Kootenai National Forest, where the landscape is defined by the high peaks of the Salish Mountains. The terrain is deeply incised by a network of drainage systems, including Pinkham Cr and its many tributaries such as Telephone Cr and Finger Cr. Notable elevations include Pinkham Mtn and Tenmile Mtn, providing a clear view of the complex topography that governs movement through these northwestern Montana highlands.
