Joshua Tree National Park encompasses much of this desert landscape, where the high peaks of the Pinto Mountains meet the vast drainage systems of the Mojave Desert. The map centers on the formidable Pinto Mtn, which towers over the lowlands of the Pinto Basin and the wide expanse of Turkey Flat to the south. This terrain is defined by its complex network of seasonal watercourses, including Pinto Wash and Washington Wash, which channel runoff toward the basin floor.
