The East Potrillo Mountains rise sharply in the northwestern corner of this borderland landscape, their steep contours contrasting with the surrounding high desert plains. This 2020 survey documents the austere environment of southernmost Doña Ana County, where water is a critical resource represented by isolated features like Gerrys Tank. The most prominent boundary on the map is the international line between the United States of America and Estados Unidos Mexicanos, which runs horizontally across the lower third of the sheet. Modern infrastructure is sparse, limited primarily to county routes such as A 008 Co Rd and A003 Co Rd that traverse the open basins between mountain ranges.
