The Cache La Poudre River corridor defines the geography of this mid-century survey, with the small settlement of Poudre Park and the riverside Mishawaka area serving as focal points. Much of the terrain is managed within the Roosevelt National Forest, where steep drainages like Young Gulch and Hewlett Gulch feed into the main river valley.

Evidence of the area's rural development and industry is scattered throughout the canyons. To the south, Stratton Park Sch and the Stratton Park Spr mark the community of Stratton Park, while the Brinkhoff Mine and its namesake Brinkhoff Mine Trail suggest earlier mineral extraction near Greyrock Mountain. Recreation is also well established, documented by the Ansel Watrous Campground and the Diamond Rock Picnic Area.
