2011 Map of Poverty Point

About this map

Poverty Point and Dead Cow Point define the west-facing edges of this Great Salt Lake shoreline landscape in Tooele County. The environment is dominated by expansive wetlands and salt flats, punctuated by isolated topographic features like Black Knoll and the small catchment of Greasewood Pond. Human infrastructure is sparse, concentrated primarily along Amax Rd as it tracks through the desert terrain towards the industrial periphery of the lake. This 2011 survey documents the shifting interface between the alkaline flats and the variable water levels of the surrounding basins, capturing a snapshot of the region's remote geography before modern hydrological changes.
