2022 Map of Reader Lake

About this map

The Comanche National Grassland dominates this high-plains landscape in southeastern Colorado, where the terrain is defined by a network of drainage systems cutting through the arid territory. The ephemeral waters of the N Fork Sand Arroyo and S Fork Sand Arroyo move across the northern half of the quadrangle, while the southern reaches are marked by deep incisions including Middle Sand Canyon, West Sand Canyon, and Whitby Canyon. Near the center of the survey lies Reader Lake, a notable hydrological feature in an otherwise dry expanse. This 2022 survey illustrates the modern configuration of the Public Land Survey System, shown through the section lines of t32s r50w and t33s r49w, and the straight-line grid of rural county roads such as Co RD R and Co RD 10.
